DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCES

Mere Christianity
By: C.S. Lewis

Arguably the 20th century's most influential Christian writer, C.S. Lewis sought to explain and defend the beliefs that nearly all Christians at all times hold in common. His simple yet deeply profound classic, originally delivered as a series of radio broadcasts, is a book to be thoroughly digested by believers and generously shared with skeptics.

For New Believers

Strobel's tough, point-blank questions make this Gold Medallion-winning book read like a captivating, fast-paced novel. But it's not fiction. It's a riveting quest for the truth about history's most compelling figure. What will your verdict be in The Case for Christ? Lee Strobel probes with bulldog-like tenacity the evidence for the truth of biblical Christianity. Lee Strobel asks the questions a tough-minded skeptic would ask. Every inquirer should have it.

Celebration of Discipline
By: Richard Foster

In the twenty years since its publication, Celebration of Discipline has helped over a million seekers discover a richer spiritual life infused with joy, peace, and a deeper understanding of God. For this special twentieth anniversary edition, Richard J. Foster has added an introduction, in which he shares the story of how this beloved and enduring spiritual guidebook came to be.

In the muddle of day-to-day life, have you somehow forgotten that Christianity is a living, vibrant relationship with a personal God? The Pursuit of God reminds and challenges you to renew your relationship with your loving God.  In each of the 10 chapters, Tozer explains one aspect of hungering for God and ends with a prayer. This classic was written during a train trip from Chicago to McAllen, Texas, in the late 1940s. Tozer wrote all night, the words coming to him as fast as he could put them down.

Absolute Surrender
By: Andrew Murray

You can! God readily offers these blessings and more. All you need to do is to take one decisive step of absolute surrender to Christ. When you forsake all to follow Him, you put the carnal life behind you and begin a new, spiritual life in obedience to the command, "Be filled with the Spirit." Through this popular devotional study, first published over a century ago, many Christians have discovered that victory over the power of sin and unbroken fellowship with Jesus are only a step away.

The Imitation of Christ
By: Thomas a Kempis

For nearly 600 years, these thoughtful meditations on Jesus' life and teachings offer practical guidance on the central task of the Christian life: learning day by day to live like Jesus. This modern translation is direct and concise, yet retains a deep devotional flavor.

For Men

Wild at Heart
By: John Eldredge

God designed men to be dangerous, says John Eldredge. Simply look at the dreams and desires written in the heart of every boy: To be a hero, to be a warrior, to live a life of adventure and risk. Sadly, most men abandon those dreams and desires—aided by a Christianity that feels like nothing more than pressure to be a “nice guy.” It is no wonder that many men avoid church, and those who go are often passive and bored to death. In this provocative book, Eldredge gives women a look inside the true heart of a man and gives men permission to be what God designed them to be—dangerous, passionate, alive, and free.

For Women

By revealing the core desires every woman shares-to be romanced, to play an irreplaceable role in a grand adventure, and to unveil beauty-John and Stasi Eldredge invite women to recover their feminine hearts, created in the image of an intimate and passionate God. Further, they encourage men to discover the secret of a woman's soul and to delight in the beauty and strength women were created to offer.

Chronicles of Narnia
By: C.S. Lewis

Journeys to the end of the world, fantastic creatures, and epic battles between good and evil—what more could any reader ask for in one book? The book that has it all is The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, written in 1949 by C.S. Lewis. But Lewis did not stop there. Six more books followed, and together they became known asThe Chronicles of Narnia. For the past fifty years, The Chronicles of Narnia have transcended the fantasy genre to become part of the canon of classic literature. Each of the seven books is a masterpiece, drawing the reader into a land where magic meets reality, and the result is a fictional world whose scope has fascinated generations.

The Church is not commanded to only make converts who will believe, we are also commanded to make disciples.  This means people who chose to believe must move forward in their faith to become disciples.  What is a disciple? A disciple is one who has not only made a decision to follow Jesus, but is actually living out that decision, every day by obeying the teachings of the one they follow.
