This week we are learning that God is our Shepherd! Begin this activity by finding Psalm 23 in your Bible. Once you have found this scripture, explain to your kids that they will be going on a color scavenger hunt. Once they find an object for each color, you will read to them the matching scripture from Psalm 23.
After all the colors are found, they will make a rainbow. This rainbow will be a reminder that God keeps his promises because He is a good shepherd who takes good care of his sheep, that's us! You will find a few of God's promises in Psalm 23!
RED - “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.”
GREEN - “He makes me lie down in green pastures.”
BLUE - “He leads me to the still waters. He restores my soul.”
BLACK - “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. (You might ask, who is with us? God!)
BROWN - “Your rod and staff comfort me.”
ORANGE - “You prepare a table before me before my enemies. You anoint my head with oil, my cup runs over.”
PURPLE - “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all of my days.” (This would be a good time to pause and talk about the good things God has done for your family)
YELLOW - “I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
Just like a shepherd loves and protects his sheep, God does that for us, too! God will tell us the right way to go, and He’ll make sure we have all we need. If we ever feel scared or alone, we can trust that He is there with us!
