CRAFT | Sword of the Spirit

Hey families! We have been learning all about the armor of God recently. Read the following together as a family devotional. Then, check out the craft below.

“Take on the Helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.” Ephesians 6:17 

This verse reminds us that the Sword of the Spirit is actually the Word of God. How cool is that, kids? The Bible can be used just like a sword, ready to defend us in any battle we may face in life! When you feel scared, alone, or overwhelmed, just remember that God has given you a great tool to defend yourself against whatever you are facing: his Word!

Today, we are going to be making a Sword of the Spirit jar. This will be a handy tool to use when you are in a battle in your life! To make this, you will need popsicle sticks, markers, a cup or mason jar, and any materials you wish to use to decorate! 

On the popsicle sticks write down some of your favorite verses of the Bible. You will write down one verse on each stick and can do as many as you would like! Some of the verses you might use are Psalm 42:1, Ephesians 3:20-21, and Romans 8:38-39. Now, decorate your cup to hold your popsicle sticks & have fun!

Whenever you are facing a battle, you can whip out one of your swords and remind the enemy of what an awesome God we have on our side! He didn’t leave us on the earth without any protection. He gave us the Bible, which is like a sword we can use in battle!
