It is not God’s intent for The Holy Spirit and the Word of God to be experienced separately. As we celebrate the Word of God in our lives, we must make room for the Holy Spirit to move. And as we celebrate the Holy Spirit in our lives, we must be intentional about making sure the Word of God is directing us. With these considerations in mind, if you haven't had the opportunity to watch last week's message, “What Shall We Do? I invite you to do so now, as it lays a significant foundation for where we are going in this series, The Silent Divorce.

We know that we have the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Heavenly Father represents God for us, the Son represents God with us, and the Holy Spirit represents God in us. Think about those truths! It’s incredible to know God is for us and with us, but everything goes to the next level when we contemplate God IN us!

Have you ever asked yourself these questions: How can I have more of God in me? How can I have more of the Holy Spirit in my life, in my family, in the trials and challenges I face?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, and are hungry for more of God in your life, then I invite you to watch this message, How to Have More of the Holy Spirit? And, learn the power associated with Heaven’s mission statement for the Holy Spirit in this verse:

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 (NKJV)

So many of us want more of God in our lives! And, in this message, I want to help you see what RT Kendall’s writings once helped me see: If you want more of the Holy Spirit in your life, then you need to know these seven principles.

  1. Know Your Bible

  2. Ask For It

  3. Seek God And Wait

  4. Live A Holy Life

  5. Value The Holy Spirit’s Fruits and Gifts Equally

  6. Seek Honor From God, And Not People

  7. Witness To People

Stop living a weak-anemic spiritual life. Start living a power-filled life. Seek everything that God has for you! Be intentional about developing an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. I would love to help teach you HOW these seven principles can change everything in your spiritual journey, as you learn WHY they are so crucial to you having the relationship you desire with the Holy Spirit.

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:14-17 KJV)

Have you ever walked into a completely unfurnished house? Do you remember sensing an empty feeling or like the house was lacking the most essential things, the things that made it a comfortable and perfect home? It can be a long process to take an empty house and turn it into a thoroughly furnished and functional home.

God desires every man and woman of God to go through a process of becoming perfect. We are to become who God truly created us to be.

That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:17 KJV)

God has planned good works for you to complete! He has a plan for you! There is hope and a future for you! God desires to use you to impact other people and be a blessing! And He will furnish you for every good work He has asked you to complete. He will place everything you need inside of you so that you can facilitate and complete EVERYTHING He has planned for you to do, every good work.

Why is this important? Why must we comprehend that we are thoroughly furnished and equipped to complete all good works?

Yea and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. (2 Timothy 3:12-13 KJV)

Because 2 Timothy 3:12-13 is just as relevant today as when Paul conveyed it to his spiritual son Timothy. We can be guaranteed two things, those who live godly will be persecuted, and evil people will become worse and worse.

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 3:1-7 NKJV)

The above Scriptures come incredibly close to describing the current culture we live in today. No one wants to be persecuted, and no one wants to witness others becoming worse and worse, but these things will happen. So what can you do?

I invite you to watch this message, Two Things Are Going to Happen, and be encouraged to live a powerful life devoted to God and His Word. It is through the Word of God that you become thoroughly furnished, and only then can you begin to help future generations become thoroughly furnished and equipped to walk in the lives God has planned for them!

All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV)

If you could have anything in the world, what would it be?

This was a question posed to Solomon in the old testament. Knowing what he asked for may surprise you.

Solomon was King David’s son and after David’s death, Solomon became the king of Israel. When Solomon took the throne after David’s death, God appeared to him in a dream and asked him what he wanted. Solomon told God that he wanted wisdom so he could govern Israel fairly. All he asked for was wisdom.

God was very pleased with Solomon’s response and he granted him this wisdom. And because he asked for wisdom instead of fame or riches God also gave him these as well (1 Kings 3:10-14). Solomon is famous for being one of the wisest and wealthiest kings in world history.

He was extremely blessed during his lifetime as king. Solomon became so famous that people from all around the world would come to his palace to sit under his teaching or to just see the man for themselves.(See 1 Kings 4:34)

He wrote much of the book of Proverbs from his God-given wisdom as well as the book, Song of Songs. Solomon is also known for building the great Temple. The temple took seven years to build and was worth over half a billion dollars in today's money. This temple stood for around 500 years until it was eventually destroyed by the Babylonians.

Unfortunately, for centuries Israel would go back and forth between serving God and sinning against God. Eventually, their worship became so muddied that even the people who thought they were worshipping God were doing it in vain. That is until Jesus came on the scene. Jesus reshaped the way people thought about God. Jesus showed them that God wasn’t found through the law but faith, and anyone who put their faith in Jesus, who is God, would have eternal life.

So be encouraged today, God hears your prayers, just as he heard Solomon in 1 Kings. Pray for the big things. Pray for the little things. Pray for your family. Pray and pray some more. Oh, and don't forget to pray for wisdom!

We serve a God who answers prayers and will bless us greatly when we seek him first.
